Appalachian music is the traditional music
of the Appalachia region in the eastern United States.

It derived from various European and African influences, including English ballads, Irish and Scotch traditional music (especially fiddle music), hymns, and African-American Blues. Appalachian musicians were a key influence in the early development of old-time, country, and bluegrass music styles and they were an important part of the American folk music revival in the 1960s. Classic Appalachian music instruments include the banjo, fiddle, fretted dulcimer, and guitar.
