More than just a road…
The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469 mile natural experience, certainly for an incredible road trip but also to stop and experience the region you’re passing through.
Visitors to the Parkway come for nature’s beauty in every season, to visit historical sites, to experience the Appalachian culture or perhaps to watch the sun go down at an overlook rumored to have ghost lights. Opportunities abound for hiking, biking, horseback riding, fishing and swimming, shopping, sampling the local cuisine and taking in some old time music.
The links at left will give you some idea of what you might consider, our events calendar will help with specific activities. During the summer months, there are a variety of educational, interpretive and historical reenactment programs and events along the Parkway well worth planning your trip around. You’ll find a list of hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails here. Under Destinations, our list of notable sites offers regional and historical interest.
Whatever your interests, the Blue Ridge Parkway has something to offer.
